Description

The Eastern Range of buildings at Duirinish Byres comprises a group of 15 drystone byre and barn structures. These buildings date to the 18th and 19th centuries and form a U-plan enclosure, with the Duirinish-Drumbuie road defining the open end. The buildings are generally rectangular, measuring approximately 36 feet by 18 feet, and some are joined gable to gable. One building is roofless. The doors are horizontally halved and the sides are vented, with louvring created using vertically laid lengths of barked, unfinished slender timber. Corrugated iron now replaces original form thatching.
