Description
The North Eastern Range at Duirinish Byres comprises a group of fifteen drystone byre and barn structures. Dating to the 18th and 19th centuries, these buildings create a U-shaped enclosure along the Duirinish-Drumbuie road, which forms the open end of the plan. Each building is roughly 36 feet by 18 feet, with some joined gable to gable. One building is roofless, and the roofs are now covered with corrugated iron, replacing what was originally thatched. The byre/barns feature horizontally halved doors and vented sides, with louvres made from vertically laid sections of slender timber, which have bark but remain unfinished.
