Description

The Northern Range at Duirinish Byres comprises a group of 15 drystone byre and barn structures. These buildings date to the 18th century and form a U-shaped enclosure, with the Duirinish-Drumbuie road closing off the open end. Most of the buildings measure approximately 36 feet by 18 feet, and some are joined gable to gable; one is roofless. The buildings have horizontally halved doors and vented sides, with louvring provided by vertically laid lengths of barked timber. Corrugated iron has replaced what was originally thatched roofing.
