Description
This building, located at 217, 219, and 221 Argyle Street in Glasgow, was designed by James Thomson in collaboration with R McConnel in 1863. It is a four-storey Venetian-style warehouse featuring modern shops on the ground floor and consists of nine bays. The structure is iron-framed and showcases a pilastrade on the first floor that connects to a giant arcade on the second floor. The second floor also includes a slim colonnaded arcade with console keyblocks. On the third floor, there is a moulded cill band and continuous quarter architraves with panelling below. The building has boldly projecting eaves supported by consoled brackets and a modillion cornice. There have been some alterations made to the first floor.
