Description

The electricity substation at 42-44 Haggs Road in Glasgow was designed by Chief Engineer W.W. Lackie for the Glasgow Corporation Electricity Department in 1908. It features a villa-like appearance to blend in with the surrounding residential area. The building has two storeys with snecked rubble and ashlar dressings, and it includes mullioned windows with small paned sashes. The front is L-shaped with three bays and a wide central entrance. The roof is piended with bracketed projecting eaves and an axial ventilator. The longer side facing Ellangowan Road is plainer. There are low boundary walls with iron railings and parallel gatepiers.
