Description
Whiteinch Public Library, located at 14 Victoria Park Drive South in Glasgow, was built in 1923 by the Office of Public Works. This single-storey building with a basement is designed in an L-shape and serves as a district public library. It features red sandstone ashlar construction. The entrance is situated at the corner and is highlighted by a boldly moulded doorpiece, which includes a fanlight above the door and an enriched coat of arms above it. A continuous entablature with a disc frieze runs along the building. The elevations facing the reading rooms have main windows that are recessed and framed by giant pilastered bays, while the outer bays contain smaller architraved windows. Additionally, there is a small, squared lead cupola positioned over the entrance.
