Description
The Partick Curling Club Pavilion, located in Victoria Park, Partick, was built in 1900. This single-storey, symmetrical building features a three-bay square plan and is designed in the Arts and Crafts style. It has a distinctive veranda and overhanging eaves, constructed from red brick and supported by red sandstone columns. The deep overhanging eaves showcase exposed timber bracing, and the roof is piended.
The principal elevation faces south and includes a full-length veranda with a low coped wall that supports four convex red sandstone Tuscan columns, with timber boarding on the soffit. In the center, there is a pair of part-glazed timber doors flanked by tripartite windows with timber mullions. A battered brick chimney stack rises from the ground to the west, and there is a plaque on the wall to the east.
The pavilion predominantly features six-pane fixed timber glazing and has a piended roof covered with graded grey slate, along with a tall single stack to the west.
Inside, as observed in 2010, the original layout remains largely intact. To the right, there is a store room with fixed timber equipment lockers, many of which bear the original names of members. The floor is made of stone. To the left, there is a room with a large stone fireplace featuring a swey, a moulded dado rail, and a red brick section below, with a tiled floor.
