42 Balshagray Drive, Broomhill, Glasgow

44 Balshagray Drive in Broomhill, Glasgow, is a substantial two-storey terrace of eight houses designed by John Burnet, Son & Campbell in June 1888. The houses are slightly stepped to follow the gentle slope of the site and are constructed of ashlar with squared snecked rubble on the sides and rear. Each house features a plinth, a band course between the storeys, and a cill course at the first floor.

The central entrances have very wide two-leaf panelled doors. To the left of the door are two windows, while to the right is a wide canted window with a balustrade, all featuring simply moulded arrises. There are five first-floor windows, which are plate glass sash and case windows. The houses have deep timber eaves and ball finials on the party walls.

The slate roof includes end and ridge stacks. The entrance to No. 2 Marlborough Avenue is located on the north gable and features double-leaf doors, small paired windows above with stained glass, and a tall stair window with etched glass.

A low front retaining wall with stumpy battered piers completes the property.
