Description
The Whiteinch Public Baths, located at 140-142 Medwyn Street in Glasgow, were built by the Office of Public Works between 1923 and 1926. This three-storey, five-bay building features an Edwardian Baroque style, with the central pavilion still intact after its conversion to housing in 2008.
The building has a central portico that includes a keyblocked elliptically-headed fanlight and a segmental pediment adorned with mutules. The first floor is distinguished by five windows beneath a simple cornice, and the roof is piended. A lead cupola, featuring a squared bell stage and dormer, crowns the structure.
The exterior is constructed of red brick with cream ashlar dressings. Notable architectural details include a continuous cornice on the first floor, an entablature, and multipane timber windows.
