Description

Forman and McColl, engineers; 1899-1900. Tall masonry 3-arch

bridge at Kirklee Road spanning River Kelvin with central

depresed-arch; flanking subsidiary round-headed arches over

Kelvin Walkway.

Polished red sandstone, rock faced soffits and abutments;

flanking main arch, pairs of granite Ionic columns support

polished pink granite parapet. Arches with roll-moulding

above voussoirs; subsidiary arches with cartouche keystone.

Spandrels of main arch with City of Glasgow arms in

bas-relief.

Die and baluster parapet with cast-iron lamp brackets over

arches; solid granite parapet over abutments with terminal

drum piers supporting large cast-iron lamp brackets. Parapet

splays to N.
