Description
Merrylea Parish Church, located at 78-80 Merrylee Road in Glasgow, was completed in 1915 and designed by Peter MacGregor Chalmers. This Romanesque church features a rock-faced ashlar exterior with polished dressings. It has a tall nave with aisles, a chancel to the left that includes an apse, and a gabled side chapel on the right. The porch serves as the base for an intended square tower, and the main roof is swept over. The church has an arched and moulded doorway and paired clearstorey lights. The roofs are covered with slate. To the left of the church, there is an extensive series of halls that are deeply recessed from the street, featuring a mullioned two-storey canted gable end. The property is enclosed by wrought-iron gates and railings.
