Lloyds Tsb Bank, 443 Clarkston Road, Muirend, Glasgow

Lloyds Tsb Bank, located at 443 Clarkston Road in Muirend, Glasgow, was built between 1925 and 1927 to the designs of A N Paterson and Stoddart. This bank features a Renaissance style and is a tall single storey building with a steep slate roof, situated on a corner site. The exterior is made of polished ashlar with contrasting granite details and a plinth. The front facing Clarkston Road is symmetrical and tripartite, featuring a central three-light window with iron balconies set in a Doric 'in antis' frame, topped by a parapet with sculpted vase finials. The outer bays have arched recesses with prominent key-stones, and there is a door to the right with a sculptured crest above it. The elevation facing Gartly Street presents a simplified version of the same design.

Inside, the bank has a large banking hall with a coffered ceiling that includes an elliptical central cupola. There is also the original full-width counter and partition along the north (rear) wall.
