Description

Possibly Charles Wilson (?). Built in 2 sections 1845-6,

1855-6. Classical 3-storey and basement, 28-bay tenement.

Polished ashlar, channelled at ground floor with

voussoired lintels to windows. Entrances arranged in

regular groups of 3 each at head of steps oversailing

basement area; Roman Doric pilastered, corniced porticos

Nos 103-113b, projecting arched, corniced doorpieces Nos

97-101; all with pierced parapets. Windows mainly sash

and case in architraves with 12-pane glazing. Ground

floor level band course; ground floor cornice, panelled

aprons. 1st floor blind die balustrades, richly consoled

windows with alternating segmental and triangular

pediments; 2nd floor moulded cill band; plain eaves

entablature with modillion cornice; die parapet; axial

and wallhead corniced stacks.

Cast-iron railings.
