Breadalbane Terrace, 97-101 Hill Street, Glasgow

Breadalbane Terrace, located at 97-101 Hill Street in Glasgow, is a notable building possibly designed by Charles Wilson. Constructed in two sections between 1845-1846 and 1855-1856, this classical tenement features three stories and a basement, with a total of 28 bays. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar, with the ground floor channelled and adorned with voussoired lintels above the windows.

The entrances are organized in regular groups of three at the top of steps that overhang the basement area, featuring Roman Doric pilastered and corniced porticos for Nos 103-113b, while Nos 97-101 have projecting arched and corniced doorpieces, all topped with pierced parapets. The windows are predominantly sash and case, set within architraves and featuring 12-pane glazing.

Additional architectural details include a band course at ground floor level, a cornice at the ground floor, and panelled aprons. The first floor showcases blind die balustrades and richly consoled windows with alternating segmental and triangular pediments. The second floor has a moulded cill band, while the plain eaves entablature is complemented by a modillion cornice and a die parapet. The building is capped with axial and wallhead corniced stacks.

The property is also enhanced by cast-iron railings.
