Description

This building is a cinema located at 12 Rose Street in Glasgow, designed by W J Anderson II (John MacKissack and Son) and constructed between 1938 and 1939. It is a multi-level brick structure featuring a glazed brick plinth and door surrounds, situated on steeply sloping ground. The main facade has three by three bays, with a stepped tower positioned over the southern entrance bay.

The elevation facing Rose Street has bays that are divided by narrow vertical strips set in insets, with the higher section curving upwards and adorned with simple glazed brick cornices. The elevation on Renfrew Street includes low entrance bays with narrow windows and tiled surrounds in the outer bays. There is a thin pilaster strip in the center, with the central part of the facade breaking forward and corniced. Above this, a higher recessed section features a blind eaves gallery and glazed tile mullions.
