Classic Cinema, 57 Kirk Road, Wishaw

The Classic Cinema, located at 57 Kirk Road in Wishaw, is a former cinema built in 1920 by James L Ross. This three-storey, five-bay building features a rectangular plan and is designed in an Edwardian style. The principal elevation is finished in painted brick, with late 20th century polished granite tiling on the ground floor. The sides are rendered brick, while the rear is plain brick.

The front of the building has pyramidal roofed towers with deep bracketed eaves that flank a central Diocletian window adorned with decorative stained glass. The central section of the southeast elevation is three storeys high and includes a recessed late 20th century glazed entrance. Above this entrance is a keystoned Diocletian window on the first floor. A bay-leaf garland panel inscribed with the word 'CINEMA' is located here, flanked by lattice and stained glass windows. The towers break the eaves and have doorways on the ground floor, with long narrow lattice and stained glass windows on the first and second floors. The outer bays are narrow and feature small windows between the ground and first floors, as well as at the first floor level. A backlit metal and glass sign reading 'CLASSIC' is positioned on the left side of the first floor.

The northeast elevation has irregular fenestration, while the northwest (rear) elevation presents a plain wallhead. The southwest elevation also features irregular fenestration. The interior of the building has been converted into an arcade and pool hall.
