26 Main Street, 28, 18, Wishaw

26 Main Street is a later 19th century, two-storey and attic, four-bay, asymmetrical terraced tenement with shops on the ground floor. It is constructed from yellow ashlar sandstone. The building features bipartite windows and a cavetto moulded string course between the floors, along with a stone bracketted scalloped eaves course.

The principal elevation, facing southwest, has a modern shop front at ground level. The first floor shows irregular fenestration, with single harrow windows to the left of centre and the remaining windows being bipartite with stop-chamfered surrounds and moulded cills. To the left, there is a canted gabled dormer with overhanging eaves.

The rear elevation, facing northeast, is made of random sandstone rubble and also has irregular fenestration. It features twin square-plan stair towers with doors on the returns.

The northwest and southeast elevations are adjoining buildings.

The windows are four-pane timber sash and case, with modern glazing on the far right and in the dormer. The roof is covered with grey slates, has lead ridges, coped sandstone gable stacks, and cast-iron rainwater goods.

Inside, there are modern shop fittings, and the residential storey was not seen in 2000.
