Description

73 Victoria Street is a mid 19th century, three-storey tenement building with an attic, forming the end of a terrace and featuring shops on the ground floor. It is constructed from yellow sandstone ashlar with raised, polished sandstone margins. The building has a raised base course and dentil detailing beneath the cornice that supports the ground floor. The eaves are corniced, and the windows on the first floor are architraved, corniced, and consoled, while the second floor windows have architraved surrounds and corbelled cills.

On the north elevation, the ground floor contains shops with a mosaic-tile floor. There are small-paned glazing rows beneath the ground floor cornice, with plate glass to the right and opaque glass to the left. A replacement timber door on the outer left provides access to the upper flats. Each bay features single windows on both the first and second floors, with three-light canted dormers aligned above.

The building predominantly has two-pane timber sash and case windows, although there is a replacement window on the second floor in the outer left bay. The dormers have four-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, and there is a corniced wallhead stack on the outer left, which has a splayed base and decorative fluting, although the cans are missing. The interior was not seen in 1996.
