4 King Street, Rothesay, Bute

4 King Street is a flatted house built in the earlier to mid 18th century, around 1749, and was rehabilitated in 1986. It features a symmetrical, two-storey, three-bay design in a plain classical style, with a projecting stair tower at the rear. The exterior is made of red rubble sandstone, which has been recently cleaned, with polished sandstone margins. It has a raised base course and a lintel course beneath the corniced eaves. The quoins are droved red rubble, and there are droved long and short surrounds to the openings, along with projecting cills. The rear and sides are constructed of random rubble.

On the southeast (entrance) elevation, there is a timber panelled door centered at the ground level, topped by a four-light fanlight. There are single windows at the ground level in the outer left and right bays, and single windows in all bays on the first floor. The windows are 16-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, featuring raised skews and coped rendered apex stacks at the northeast and southwest, along with circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996.
