24 Ardbeg Road, Rothesay, Bute

24 Ardbeg Road is a flatted house dating from the earlier to mid 19th century, with mid 20th-century alterations. It is a symmetrical, two-storey building with an attic and three bays, designed in a plain classical style. The house is part of an irregular pair and has entrances at both the front and rear. The exterior features painted render with raised, painted margins and strip quoins. There is a raised base course, a lintel course beneath the corniced eaves, and a painted blocking course. The entrance includes a pilastered doorpiece, with corniced and pilastered windows on the ground floor and pilastered windows on the first floor, all with bracketed cills. The side of the building is finished in harl-pointed random rubble with painted margins.

On the east elevation, there is a replacement timber panelled door at the center of the ground floor, topped by a plate-glass fanlight and surrounded by a corniced doorpiece with flanking pilasters, a plain frieze, a block pediment, and a raised keystone. The first floor has a single window centered above the door, with additional single windows in the outer bays on both floors. There are also three-light canted dormers above.

Most of the glazing has been replaced. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, featuring raised skews and replacement rainwater goods. Corniced apex stacks are located at both the north and south ends, with various circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996. Additionally, there is a low coped random rubble boundary wall along Ardbeg Road.
