21-22 Battery Place, Rothesay, Bute

21-22 Battery Place is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey flatted house with an attic, designed in a symmetrical, plain classical style. It is part of a terrace and features entrances at both the front and rear, with a central stair tower. The building is constructed from coursed cherry-cocked rubble sandstone with raised, painted margins. It has a raised base course, a lintel course beneath the corniced eaves, and a blocking course. The corners are accentuated with pilastered quoins, and the openings have painted long and short surrounds, projecting cills, and a pilastered entrance.

On the northwest (entrance) elevation, there are steps leading to a replacement door that is centered at the ground level, accompanied by a replacement fanlight. This is framed by a pilastered doorpiece that includes a plain frieze, cornice, block pediment, and raised keystone. There are single windows at ground level in the outer left and right bays, and single windows in all bays on the first floor. The outer left and right bays feature three-light canted dormers, while the center has a bipartite box-dormer.

All openings have replacement glazing. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and has corniced apex stacks with various circular cans.

The boundary is defined by a low coped wall that encloses the site at the front. The interior was not seen in 1996.
