14 Argyle Place, Rothesay, Bute

14 Argyle Place is an early 19th-century, three-storey house with an attic, designed in a symmetrical, plain classical style. The exterior is made of painted coursed rubble sandstone with raised, painted margins. It features a raised base course, a lintel course beneath the corniced eaves, pilastered quoins, a corniced doorpiece, and projecting cills.

The entrance elevation has steps leading to a central entrance that includes a replacement glazed aluminium door and an opaque fanlight. The door is surrounded by an architraved, corniced door surround with a block pediment. There are single windows flanking the entrance at the ground level and single windows in all bays on the first and second floors. The outer left and right bays feature three-light canted dormers, with a central skylight above.

Most of the glazing has been replaced. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, and it has raised stone skews. There is a corniced apex stack on the north side and a rendered apex stack on the south side, although the cans are missing.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is also enclosed by a coped painted sandstone boundary wall along Argyle Place, which includes corniced square-plan gatepiers.
