2 Argyle Place, Rothesay, Bute

2 Argyle Place is a house built in the earlier to mid-19th century, featuring a symmetrical design with two stories, an attic, and a basement. It has a plain classical style and forms a pair with the adjacent No 1. The exterior is made of painted coursed rubble sandstone with raised, painted margins. It includes a raised base course, a lintel course beneath the corniced eaves, and a blocking course. The building has pilastered quoins, a corniced doorpiece with consoled brackets, and projecting cills.

The entrance elevation features a decorative cast-iron balustraded stair leading to the central entrance, which has a replacement door and a geometric-patterned fanlight. The doorpiece is flanked by pilasters and has consoled brackets beneath the cornice. There are single windows at the ground level in the outer left and right bays, and the first floor is regularly fenestrated. A three-bay box dormer is centered above. The building has modern glazing throughout and a graded grey slate roof with raised skews. There is a corniced apex stack to the north and a corniced ridge stack to the south, along with various circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is bounded by a low coped random rubble wall along Argyle Place.
