11 Battery Place, Rothesay, Bute

11 Battery Place is an earlier 19th century house, dating around 1825, that was later converted into flats in the 20th century, around 1984. This asymmetrical, two-storey building with an attic features a three-bay plain classical style. It has entrances at both the front and rear, and is constructed of painted cherry-cocked rubble with raised painted margins. The house has a raised base course, a lintel course beneath the corniced eaves, a blocking course, and pilastered quoins.

On the northwest (entrance) elevation, there are steps leading to a two-leaf timber panelled door at the centre, which is topped by a geometric-patterned fanlight. This door is framed by a pilastered doorpiece that includes a plain frieze, cornice, block pediment, and a raised keystone. Above the entrance, there is a single window on the first floor, with additional single windows on both floors in the bay to the outer right. The outer left bay features three-light bowed windows on both the ground and first floors, supported by tiered and fluted cast-iron Corinthian columns between the panes. A modern slate-hung dormer is positioned off-centre to the right.

The roof is covered with graded grey slate, featuring raised stone skews and corniced rendered apex stacks with various circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1996. The boundary wall consists of a low coped whitewashed cherry-cocked rubble wall along Battery Place, with a replacement pedestrian entry gate.
