14 Battery Place, Rothesay, Bute

14 Battery Place is a mid to later 19th century house that has been converted into flats in the later 20th century. This symmetrical, two-storey building with an attic features a three-bay plain classical style and forms a near pair with the adjacent No 15. At the rear, there is a projecting stair tower that serves as the entrance for No 14a. The exterior is made of whitewashed rubble with painted margins, and it has a raised base course and a lintel course beneath the corniced eaves. The building includes pilastered quoins, painted sandstone mullions, projecting cills, and a pilastered entrance.

On the northwest (entrance) elevation, there is a single step leading up to a timber panelled door that is centered at the ground level. This door is topped by a plate-glass fanlight and surrounded by a pilastered doorpiece that features a plain frieze, cornice, block pediment, and raised keystone. Above the entrance, there is a single window at the first floor, and the outer left and right sides have three-light canted windows at both the ground and first floors. Above these are three-light slate-hung dormers, with a small single pedimented dormer at the center.

The building has replacement glazing throughout and a graded grey slate roof with raised stone skews. The roof features corniced rendered apex stacks with octagonal cans.

The boundary wall consists of a low coped whitewashed rubble wall along Battery Place, with a replacement timber pedestrian entry gate.
