Description

6 Rose Street in Glasgow is a building designed by Wright and Wylie, constructed between 1924 and 1927. It has three storeys above a raised basement and features three bays, with a narrow stair bay to the north. The exterior is made of yellow sandstone ashlar. The wide segmental-headed basement windows have channelled voussoirs, and the bays are separated by stylised pilasters. The ground and first floor windows consist of one large light flanked by three smaller lights, set in recessed bays with metal frames and slender pilaster mullions. There are broad moulded metal bands between the floors. A deep bracketed cornice sits above the first floor, and there is a low eaves gallery with a simple mutule cornice. The entrance door is located in the narrow northern bay, framed by a moulded architrave. Above the door, a tall window with margined panes illuminates the stairwell. The northern bay rises above the eaves of the southern bays, topped with a shallow, stepped parapet.
