Description

The Glasgow Dental Hospital and School, located at 203-217 Renfrew Street in Glasgow, was designed by Wylie, Wright, and Wylie and built between 1928 and 1931 in the Art Deco style. This four-storey building, along with a basement, features a nine-bay arrangement of 1-7-1, with the outer entrance bays being advanced and raised. It has a steel frame and is faced with polished ashlar, while the side elevation is constructed of squared rubble. The building includes metal-framed windows and casement windows with metal friezes between the floors.

The five central bays are linked both vertically and horizontally from the first to the third floors. There are architraved doorpieces at the ends and center, with the central doorway displaying the lettering "INCORPORATED DENTAL HOSPITAL 1931" above it. The narrow outer bays have windows set within panelled margins. The seven-bay central section features a recessed eaves gallery at the fourth floor, supported by two outer pilasters, with a moulded cill and an independent modillion cornice.

The property is enclosed by splayed boundary walls topped with a die and metal railings.
