Description
This building, located at 164 and 166 Bath Street in Glasgow, was constructed around 1840 as part of a terrace that includes Nos 156-166 (even numbers). It was converted into chambers in 1878. Originally, it consisted of two-storey and basement, three-bay houses, with two five-bay end pavilions that were raised to three storeys and are listed separately. The building now has 15 bays and features painted ashlar. The basement has been mainly altered, while there is a ground level band course.
Nos 156-164 have coupled entries from 1878, each positioned at the head of a stair that oversails the basement area, supported by consoled, dentilled doorpieces. The original entry for No 168 features a console cornice, and its window has been altered to a bow shape on the left side. The building has sash and case windows set within architraves, with panelled aprons at the west end. The ground floor windows are corniced.
Inside, the building includes a hall screen in No 168.
