Description

The building at 18 Cambridge Street in Glasgow is a Venetian-style commercial warehouse, redeveloped by Duncan McNaughtan around 1884. It stands four storeys tall with a reconstructed ground floor shop. The ground floor features six windows and an entrance, while the upper floors have three bays of paired lights. The entrance is arched and pilastered, adorned with sculpted consoles, a keyblock, and a cornice.

On the first floor, there is an elliptically arched pilastrade above the ground floor cornice, with Corinthian capitals. The recessed 2-light Romanesque windows are supported by column mullions and feature an incised frieze. The second floor has a moulded cill band and a pilastrade with a plain entablature, including central colonettes and responds with shallow arched heads. The third floor also has a moulded cill band and features a semi-engaged Corinthian colonnade with antae, along with Romanesque arcaded windows.

The building is topped with an entablature that includes a main modillion cornice. There is a single return bay to the north that repeats the main elevation.
