Description
The Quayside Titan Crane, located at the North British Diesel Engine Works on South Street in Glasgow, was ordered in 1913 and completed in 1920 by Sir William Arrol and Co Ltd. This impressive 150-ton cantilever crane was designed to serve the engine erecting shop, featuring sliding roof panels for efficient operation. The structure includes a lattice girder tower that supports a roller track, allowing for the rotation of an asymmetrical truss gib, which houses the motor room and counterweight at its shorter end.
