Description
The Whitehouse Inn is a former public house located at 1647 Maryhill Road, dating from around 1800 and refurbished in 2013. It is a two-storey building with three bays and single-storey extensions on either side, the right extension being shorter and featuring a piended roof. The inn is situated next to Lock 21 of the Forth and Clyde Canal at the rear and faces directly onto Maryhill Road at the front. The walls are primarily made of rendered sandstone rubble, with exposed random stone on the main gables and the central rear elevation. The ground floor windows have moulded surrounds, and there is a simple eaves course. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, featuring stone skews and corniced stone stacks with plain cans. The glazing is non-traditional plate glass with security grilles.
The interior was fully remodelled in 2013, creating a plain, serviceable open-plan retail space. A suspended ceiling structure was installed, which currently prevents access to the upper floor.
