The Beehive Inn, 18, 20, 22, 24 Grassmarket, Edinburgh

The Beehive Inn is a public house located at 18, 20, 22, and 24 Grassmarket in Edinburgh, designed by John Paterson in 1868. This three-storey building features a five-bay irregular terrace constructed from squared and snecked bull-faced sandstone, with polished dressings that have been painted at the ground floor.

The structure includes a base course and a cornice at the ground floor, along with a polished band above that features a carved beehive motif at the center. There is a moulded band between the first and second floors, which steps up over a carved date panel in the center. The second-floor windows have bracketed projecting cills, and the central window is framed with a moulded surround. The eaves cornice is also moulded.

The ground floor is pilastraded, with a timber panelled door in a modern decorative surround at the center and another timber panelled door to the outer right. The central bay has a crowstepped gable topped with a rendered apex stack and a thistle finial, which was formerly a chimney with cans.

The ground floor windows have 12-pane glazing, while the windows above have modern glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates.
