Description

The fire station on Gairbraid Avenue in Glasgow was designed by city architect A B McDonald in 1892. It is a two-storey building featuring a four-arch arcaded garage front on the left, which connects the fire station to the Maryhill Public Baths. The offices of the fire station are located next to the Police Station on the right.

The fire station has a five-bay façade made of polished ashlar, with bi-partite and tripartite windows on the ground floor and single-light windows above, all fitted with plate glass sashes. There is a plain, wide doorway located centrally.

Notable architectural details include a band course above the ground floor at the first-floor cills and eaves, a plain main cornice, and slate piended roofs. The west side features a round arch arcade.
