Description
The Job Centre located at 179 Shettleston Road in Glasgow is a building designed by the HM Office of Works around 1930, possibly by J Wilson Paterson. It features a stripped classical style, constructed from red brick with ashlar dressings. The building has a framed construction and is two stories tall with a nearly symmetrical front. It includes three-light windows with pilastered mullions and shallow canted windows positioned second from the ends, each set within a giant-pilastered frame. Brick pilaster strips that clad the frame divide the bays, and the original glazing is still intact. A deep entablature conceals the roof, and there are three doors facing the street.
