Description
The gateway at Garscube Estate in Glasgow dates from the later 19th century. It features a sweeping design made up of decorative cast- and wrought-iron quadrant railings set on a saddleback ashlar plinth. The outer columns are corniced and octagonal, while the gatepiers are more slender, also octagonal, and panelled, adorned with roundel and strapwork details, cornices, and urn finials. The gateway includes decorative gates and is flanked by rubble sandstone quadrant walls that have semi-circular coping. These walls continue the design of the boundary walls that once surrounded the Garscube estate.
