Description

The gateway on Kelvingrove Street in Glasgow dates from the later 19th century and provides access to Kelvingrove Park. It features six symmetrically arranged red ashlar gatepiers. The inner wrought-iron gatepiers support the main pair of wrought-iron gates. The ashlar gatepiers are tall and square, with dwarf columns that support a cornice with dentil moulding. The innermost piers also support cast-iron lamp brackets. The elaborate wrought-iron gates are adorned with the City of Glasgow arms.
