Description
Balwearie Tower is an early 19th-century two-stage folly constructed from rubble, with a gable end that adjoins a two-storey cottage. The tower features an ashlar dividing course and projecting rubble margins, along with pointed arch openings.
On the northeast elevation, the first stage has a large pointed-arch recess at the ground level that contains a memorial tablet, with a narrow window positioned high to the right. The second stage includes a brick-traceried window below a quatrefoil opening, and there are three small square nesting boxes to the left.
At the rear of the tower, the cottage has a door on the east side, flanked by windows, and a harled extension to the west.
