Description

Swanston & Syme, 1905. Single storey and attic, 6-bay, long T-plan, mirrored pair of houses with mock half-timbered M-gable. Bull-faced, squared and snecked red rubble with red sandstone ashlar dressings at ground and contrasting harl over. Part string course, deeply overhanging eaves and decorative bargeboarding.

NW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Broad advanced centre gable with 2 corniced, tripartite, bow windows flanked by small windows with coloured glass, 2 quadripartite windows above with lintels abutting jettied half-timbered gablehead. Flanking recessed bays identical with canted porch and part-glazed 2-leaf timber door with flanking lights in re-entrant angles, tiny window above and further window to outer bays.

SW ELEVATION: gabled single bay elevation with advanced tripartite window and swept, tiled roof below further tripartite window with lintel abutting jettied half-timbered gable.

NE ELEVATION: as SW elevation.

Small-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows. Tall, battered, cavetto-coped harled stacks with cans. Cast-iron downpipes with decorative rainwater hoppers.
