Description

The property comprises two separate structures: a Spanish Cottage and a mill building, both situated together.

The Spanish Cottage is an earlier 19th-century single-storey, three-bay cottage with a piend roof. It is built of rubble with raised dressed quoin strips and margins. The north elevation features an advanced gabled bay centrally, with a window in a moulded surround, a small window in the gablehead, and further windows in the flanking bays. A modern veranda is located to the right of the central bay. The west elevation has a window in the bay to the left of centre and a modern two-leaf small-pane door to the right. A full-width modern veranda, supported by timber posts and dwarf walls, runs along the west elevation. The east and north elevations were not visible during a survey in 1999. The windows have small-pane horizontal glazing patterns, and all are fitted with external louvered shutters. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are dressed ashlar polygonal ridge stacks. The eaves overhang, with carved bargeboards. The Spanish Cottage was previously known as Datie Mill Cottage.

Datie Mill is an 18th-century, piended and pantiled, rubble mill building of single and two storeys, with an L-shaped plan. It features diamond-pattern casement windows. The mill was originally known as Daughty's Mill.

The statutory address for the combined property is Spanish Cottage and Datie Mill. A reference is made to North School Kirkcaldy Beveridge Park from 1986.
