Description
The Laundry House at Raith House is an early 19th-century building that features a mix of single and two-storey sections arranged in a rectangular plan with a piend roof. It is constructed from dark whinstone rubble, accented with contrasting dressed ashlar sandstone quoins and dressings.
On the south elevation, there are two-storey bays on the left side, which include a central two-leaf panelled timber door flanked by two windows, with a regular arrangement of windows on the first floor. To the outer right, there are two bays, each containing a small window, beneath the sloping roof. A modern porch has been added to the outer left.
The west elevation has its ground floor obscured by a modern extension, while the first floor features a blinded window to the right of centre and another window to the outer left.
On the east elevation, there is a door located in a projecting single-storey bay. The building's timber sash and case windows have a 4-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar wallhead stacks with cans, including polygonal stacks on the west side, as well as ashlar-coped skews.
