Description
The monument at the Ladies' Seat in Monimail Quarry is a sculptural work by Alexander Melvile, dated 13 February 1818. It features a single battered square column topped with a pyramidal shape and resting on a square base. The column is surrounded by low coping, although the original railings have been removed. Constructed entirely of polished ashlar, the column is inscribed on each face with biblical texts, the date, and the initials "T L" in a circular panel located on the west face beneath a coronet.
