House Behind Sandhaven, Culross

The house behind Sandhaven in Culross is a 17th-century, three-storey building with a rectangular plan, constructed from exposed rubble sandstone.

On the west elevation, there is a door located to the far left, with a tall window at mid-level to the right and a small, narrow window at the eaves above. Another door is positioned to the right, accompanied by a similar small, narrow window at the eaves above. Additionally, there is a relieving arch from a now-blocked opening at the ground floor to the far right.

The north elevation features an off-centre first-floor window to the left, a blocked small square second-floor window near the centre, and a blocked larger window to the left.

The east elevation was not visible in 2001.

On the south elevation, a large two-storey opening has been inserted, which is clad in corrugated iron and has timber doors.

Inside, the building has been gutted, revealing an earthen floor and a common rafter roof. There is one 12-pane timber sash and case window on the north side, along with timber panelled doors, although most of the glazing is missing. The pitched roof is covered with clay pantiles and features crowstepped gables and beaked skewputts.
