Description
Mint Lea is an 18th-century, two-storey, six-bay rectangular-plan house located in Sandhaven, Culross. It features a modern extension added to the rear in the mid to late 20th century. The exterior is finished with white render, and the window and door surrounds are painted ashlar, while the rest of the building is constructed from sandstone rubble.
On the south elevation, there are two ground floor windows on the left side, with two first floor windows centered above them. The entrance door is positioned to the right, accompanied by three ground floor windows to the left and three first floor windows to the right. Most windows and the door have chamfered surrounds, and there is a timber trellis porch.
The west elevation adjoins Myrtle Bank, while the north elevation has a ground floor window on the right and a first floor window above to the left. There is a single-storey extension to the left, finished in pebble-dash, with a door on the right return and a window to the left. The east elevation features a first floor window on the left.
The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows with horns located below the eaves on the first floor. The door has been replaced. The roof is pitched, covered with slate on the principal elevation and replacement pantiles on the rear, featuring crowstepped gables. The gable apex stacks are coped with polygonal cans, and there is a pebbled strip at the ground level on the south side.
Inside, the interior is modern, with timber steps opposite the front door, likely in their original position.
