Description
Robertson's House in Sandhaven, Culross, is a 17th-century L-plan house that was converted around 1958 by I G Lindsay & Partners. It stands three stories high and features three bays, with a white harling exterior and ashlar surrounds for the windows and doors. The gable of the house faces Sandhaven.
The south elevation is symmetrical, with a wide central door flanked by windows, and three windows on both the first and second floors. Above the door is a plaque from the National Trust for Scotland, and a sundial is located between the first and second windows on the first floor.
On the west elevation, there are small windows, with a central ground floor window and another window above it to the left, while the right side has a first-floor window. There is a roll-moulded door on the left return with a first-floor window above it. A rear wing is set back to the left, featuring a door on the right and a window to the left of the door. The central area has a door and a small square window on the far left, along with two first-floor windows and two second-floor catslide dormer windows.
The north elevation is plain with remnants of a former building visible. The east elevation has a small ground floor window to the center right and five first-floor windows, including a small square window on the far left and between the second and third windows. There are four second-floor catslide dormer windows.
The house predominantly features 12-pane timber sash and case windows with chamfered surrounds. The doors are replacement timber studded doors. The roof is pitched with crowstepped gables, and there are corniced gable apex stacks along with a corniced ridge stack.
A tall rubble wall runs from the northeast gable northwards. Inside, a rear door leads to a stone turnpike stair, and the interiors have been modernized since the 1958 conversion.
