5 Preston Road, East Linton

5 Preston Road is a two-storey, three-bay Free Style villa built in 1906, featuring a garage at the rear. The exterior is finished with white painted harl and has ashlar cills. The eaves are accentuated by paired mutule blocks.

On the south elevation, there is a central doorway with a Gibbs surround and a cantilevered arched canopy. To the right of the doorway is a small circular window. The first floor has three windows in the center, while the outer bays feature full-height tripartite bow windows. The first floor also has small blind boxes and four decorative lead panels on the aprons, embossed with heraldic devices and dates. The windows are fitted with painted lead and timber mullions.

The east elevation has a central door with a lugged surround and a cantilevered canopy, along with a small-pane fanlight above it. There is a window in the attic and irregular window openings at the rear, which includes an extension with a mansard roof and an additional entrance. The west elevation has also been extended.

At the rear, there is a contemporary double garage with a raised piended roof. A retaining wall features drum gate piers. The roof is covered with deep red tiles and red ridge tiles, and the harled wallhead has shouldered stacks with a moulded cornice.
