Ivy Bank, Main Road, Dirleton

Ivy Bank is an early 19th century, symmetrical, two-storey, three-bay house that features classical detailing. The building is constructed of coursed, squared rubble with droved ashlar dressings, raised quoins, and cills.

On the north elevation, there is a corniced door at the center, which has a decorative fanlight and a flush panelled door. Flanking this door are windows, with three slightly smaller windows located on the first floor.

The south elevation is harled, with the center and left bays projecting and the main roof sweeping over. A stair window is positioned at the center, and there is a pentice roofed addition at the ground level of the right bay, which has a single light above it. The windows throughout the house are small-pane sash and case types.

The building features raised skews and ashlar end stacks, and it is covered with grey slates. To the south, there is a walled garden enclosed by high rubble coped walls, along with a pentice roofed outbuilding to the west. Decorative cast-iron railings are found to the north, leading to a sloping garden on a coped retaining wall.
