Orcardia, Main Street, Garvald

Orcardia comprises a pair of early 19th century single-storey cottages, each with three bays, alongside an earlier three-bay cottage attached to Mulberry Cottage to the east. The cottages are constructed of red rubble with ashlar dressings, though Glen Cottage and the rear elevations have been harled.

The north (street) elevation features a doorway at the centre of each cottage, flanked by windows. The earlier bays, attached to Orcardia, have lower eaves and feature a former doorway which has been blocked and replaced with a window. A flat-roofed addition is present at the west gable of Glen Cottage. Alterations have been made to the rears of the properties.

Variety of glazing patterns are visible, mostly modern. The steeply pitched gables have ashlar coped skews, and gable and mutual gable stacks rise from the roofs, which are covered with pantiles.

Despite the harling applied to Glen Cottage, the original character of the pair is largely retained. Mulberry Cottage was formerly known as "Orcadia."
