Description

Early 19th century cottages. This is a pair of single-story cottages, each with three bays, alongside an earlier three-bay cottage attached to Mulberry Cottage to the east. The cottages are built of red rubble with ashlar dressings; Glen Cottage and the rear elevations are harled.

The north (street) elevation shows each cottage with a doorway in the centre, flanked by windows. The earlier bays attached to Mulberry Cottage have lower eaves, with a former central doorway now blocked as a window. A flat-roofed addition projects from the west gable of Glen Cottage. Alterations have been made to the rear.

The windows have a variety of glazing patterns, mostly modern. The steeply pitched gables have ashlar coped skews, and there are gable end and mutual gable stacks, topped with pantiles.

Despite the harling applied to Glen Cottage, the original character of the pair is largely retained. Mulberry Cottage was formerly known as 'Orcadia'.
