Broomfield House, Main Street, Garvald

Broomfield House is a late 18th-century, two-storey, three-bay house. Around 1800, a rear wing was added, creating an L-shaped plan. The house is constructed from red sandstone rubble, with squared and snecked stonework on the front and west side. A base course and chamfered arrises were added around 1840 to the south.

The south-facing street elevation features a central door flanked by windows, with further windows in each bay on the first floor. A single-storey former cottage is attached to the outer right. The north elevation has a wing projecting from the centre and the left side. A lean-to outbuilding adjoins the wing at ground level, and a terraced garden extends to the north. A doorway is located on the west side of the wing, with irregular and altered windows. The west gable is blank.

The windows are sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern. There are gable end stacks, ashlar coped skews, and pantiles.
