Description

Humbie War Memorial is a memorial constructed in the 20th century from pink stone, designed by Sir Robert Lorimer. The memorial comprises a tapering shaft with chamfered corners, supporting a moulded neck displaying a national shield on each face and topped with a cross finial. It sits upon a chamfered square pedestal inscribed with the names of those who fell and detailing the memorial's purpose. Three steps lead up to an octagonal base. Additional information concerning the memorial can be found in GLEANINGS OF HUMBIE, published by the Humbie Women's Rural Institute in 1968.
