Description

Humbie Mill Bridge is a single-span bridge rebuilt in 1934, although it may incorporate fabric dating from 1659. The bridge features a segmental arch constructed from red sandstone rubble with bull-faced voussoirs. It has a corbelled parapet finished with droved ashlar coping. The span is approximately 24 feet wide, with a roadway around 14 feet wide. A plaque inscribed with two dates relating to the bridge is set on the south side of the parapet. The mill to which the bridge provided access is located to the north, in a dell on a bend of the Humbie Water.
